The Opportunity

The Technical Writer is responsible for the creation of reports from labor market data to help provide value to our SkyHive clients. This role is critical to understanding and interpreting machine learning derived labor market data on the supply and demand conditions of skills and positions within labor markets. A successful applicant should have a passion for data, a creativity that lends itself to interpretation of data, a basic understanding of business, and great report writing and formatting abilities.

The Role

* Interpret raw data on client’s roles and business. 
* Gather information about target audience needs, structure and format information to meet those needs.
* Create reports for SkyHive’s Enterprise clients on labor markets at a role, job family, and skill level.
* Drive insights from reports into actionable strategies for SkyHive’s enterprise and government clients.
* Understand the SkyHive Enterprise reskilling platform and the role it plays within organizations and be able to relate outputs of the report to specific capabilities and modules.
* Understand client needs and address them through reporting.
* Provide suggested opportunities for product improvements to address client needs in an evergreen environment.
* Work within the Product team to ensure that deliverables meet client requirements.
* Liaise with product management and development teams to understand, document, and effectively communicate product features.
* Plan, write, edit, and maintain product documentation (e.g., API docs, technical references, installation and configuration guides, user guides, and release notes).
* Comply with the standards, best practices, and associated procedures, as well as maintain and continuously improve the effectiveness of the documentation systems.
* Assist with documentation requests and suggestions.
* Evaluate and fix documentation shortcomings and missing content.
* Rewrite and edit drafts after they have been reviewed by technical experts for accuracy

Who are you?

Qualifications (Must haves)

* Post-secondary in Applied Communications degree and/or technical writing diploma preferred
* 3+ years technical writing experience with complex enterprise systems implementations and multi-stakeholder projects with 2 years of experience writing technology end-user support documentation / relevant experience
* Experience in documenting technology operational procedures and processes, proficient technical writing style including proper use of grammar and content as per industry standard publication styles
* Experience in documentation presentation tools like portal, Wiki, SharePoint etc. and presenting to stakeholders
* Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills with the ability to work under tight timelines, to analyze target audience and to present ideas in user friendly language and absorb and retain information quickly, specifically complex technical information
* Minimum of 3 years of advanced computer skills especially Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Visio, and HTML experience is also required. Able to take screenshots and create relevant diagrams and charts to illustrate material.
* Proficiency with content publishing tools to write, format, manage, and publish high-quality content.
* Outstanding communication skills in English, both written and verbal. 
* Highly organized with great attention to detail and accuracy.
* Strong understanding of business and ability to use data to drive insights

Nice to Haves

* Education and/or experience in a data, labor market economics or business-related field.
* Demonstrated technical software experience and knowledge of the Agile software development process.
